The Social Media Crew - Whirlwind is looking for students with a interest in marketing to design and execute media campaigns on various sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and YouTube. The crew’s objective is to expand Whirlwind’s base of online followers and enhance our connection with them through regular interaction and quality content.
Crew Member Responsibilities:
- Bring new ideas for using social media to the group for discussion, selection, and implementation
- Report on trends, facts, and methods related to social media marketing
- Build relationships and interact with followers in our online communities on issues related to disability, Whirlwind news, fundraising, and wheelchairs
- Develop and integrate a cohesive strategy between the various sites.
- Communicate to our online community about our organization’s activities – new product launches, new factory openings, geographic or ethnically targeted promotions, general fundraising, and media exposure
This opportunity is ideal for students who are seeking to increase their "real-world" experience using new media methods while working with a team dedicated to improving access to assistive technologies around the world. The work load will require at least four hours of work per week and a regular meeting at SFSU. Crew members will be able to see their ideas put into practice as part of an international marketing and brand building strategy.
Required Skills:
- Excellent written English
- Knowledge of Social Media
- Basic Marketing Theory
- Basic web design (optional)

Whirlwind Advocates – Whirlwind is building a team of fundraisers across North America who will be promoting the need for wheelchairs in their local communities, service groups, churches, and schools. This group will be resourced by Whirlwind HQ with fundraising tools and promotional materials. The group will meet by conference call on a monthly basis and collaborate via web tools.
