MISSION STATEMENT

![]() Betsy White Elizabeth White, PhD, Consultant on development and women's status in Islamic society, is a social scientist who has worked, lived and conducted research related to south and southeast Asia since 1962. In the 1970's she taught several courses in the Social Sciences Department at San Francisco State University: Women in the World, Islamic Civilization, and the History of India. She worked for The Asia Foundation for more than 20 years. Much of her work focussed on assuring that women, minorities and the disabled had opportunites to contribute to and benefit from the development of their countries. She lived 9 years in Pakistan and 5 in Indonesia. She speaks French fluently and understands Urdu, Pushto and Indonesian. |
