Peter Pfaelzer

Peter Pfaelzer
Peter Pfaelzer taught Mechanical Engineering at SFSU from 1973 through 2003. His teaching and research work emphasized "real-world" engineering design. He began working with Ralf Hotchkiss in 1985. In 1989 they founded Whirlwind Wheelchair International (WWI). He currently is living the “good retired life”, taking care of grandkids, exercising, and traveling with his wife of 20 years, Coille Hooven.

Betsy White

Betsy White
Elizabeth White, PhD, Consultant on development and women's status in Islamic society, is a social scientist who has worked, lived and conducted research related to south and southeast Asia since 1962. In the 1970's she taught several courses in the Social Sciences Department at San Francisco State University: Women in the World, Islamic Civilization, and the History of India. She worked for The Asia Foundation for more than 20 years. Much of her work focussed on assuring that women, minorities and the disabled had opportunites to contribute to and benefit from the development of their countries. She lived 9 years in Pakistan and 5 in Indonesia. She speaks French fluently and understands Urdu, Pushto and Indonesian.
